It’s fair to say that Stoke’s season isn’t exactly going well, with them sitting 17th in the Premier League and just a point above the drop zone. They are actually only three points above the bottom spot so a relegation battle is definitely on the cards.
The Potters did regain some confidence last weekend though, beating Huddersfield 2-0 at the bet365 Stadium to end a run of five games without a win. This, along with a weekend off after a busy festive period, will have instilled some hope back into the camp.
The hosts will actually feel quite confident coming into this match too. Watford started the season in excellent fashion but have seen it all come crumbling down around them in recent months. They went out of the FA Cup on Saturday and have won just one of their last 11 Premier League games, a run which saw Marco Silva get the sack, despite the plaudits surrounding him at the start of the season.
Things are even worse for The Hornets away from home too. They have lost five matches on the bounce on the road, failing to score three times and conceding nine times in the process. This has pushed them down the table, although they still sit in a respectable 10th position. Considering there are just four points between them and the drop zone, things can change in a heartbeat though.
Stoke, meanwhile, have actually won three of their last five at home, and they have a very good recent history with Watford to look back on. The last four meetings have all ended in a Stoke win, with them keeping a clean sheet in each of the last three as well. For these reasons we’re backing a Stoke win on Wednesday, along with a 2-0 correct score predictions.
