Napoli vs Fiorentina predictions- Napoli crashed out of the Champions League midweek, following a poor few days for the club. They lost to Feyenoord in Europe in midweek, which came after they surrendered top spot in Serie A to Juventus after a 1-0 loss. That’s tough to take for the side who have been impressing all season, but it seems like their lack of squad depth is finally catching up with them. Will that problem lead to more dropped points when they host Fiorentina this weekend?
The Partenopei have ended up in a very similar position to last season, when they also started the campaign brightly. They lost Arkadiusz Milik to injury last term, and that saw them struggle to find balance for around a month. While Napoli are brilliant to watch in full-flight, they’re so finely tuned that a single injury throws everything off, and that ultimately cost them a place in the top two last season, and possibly left them out of the title fight.
Napoli vs Fiorentina predictions
Napoli are in the same boat this time around, with Faouzi Ghoulam missing for them ahead of a crucial part of the season. The left-back has become key to the team with his rampaging runs, which open up space for the rest of the team. That’s knocked their game to an extent, and we think that their problems will continue this week. Their system just isn’t functioning as well as it was, as seen by Dries Mertens’ poor run. The forward has scored just once in his last seven for Napoli, failing to score in four Serie A matches.
While the Partenopei are likely to get themselves out of this rut, we think they’ll continue to struggle to match their free-flowing start. They have found scoring in general tough of late, and losing Lorenzo Insigne to injury is yet another blow for the men from Naples. He’s by far their most creative talent, and that’s only going to slow down Napoli even more. With those problems in mind, and fewer than four goals being scored in all but one of Fiorentina’s previous six trips here, it’s worth backing a low scoring match on Sunday.
When you look at the price of under 3.5 goals, you have to think that it’s tempting. It seems like value given it has landed in 57% of Napoli’s home matches, and in 88% of Fiorentina’s away games. Not only that, but seeing as none of the Partenopei’s last six have seen four or more goals scored, we think it’s worth backing against goals at the San Paolo this weekend, given the hosts’ slump in form.
