Metz v Rennes predictions

Metz v Rennes predictions- Two sides in very different form meet on Saturday in Ligue 1 when relegation threatened Metz host Rennes. The home team are in a desperate situation and look almost certain to drop into the second tier come the end of this season. The side have lost 14 of their 16 games, winning just once, and are already 14 points adrift of safety at this early stage of the campaign.

It has been a disastrous season for Metz, who have rarely looked capable of competing in matches since the season began. Following this weekend’s game, they face Montpellier who have the tightest defence in the division, before a crunch clash against fellow strugglers Strasbourg. Realistically however, Metz’s chances of staying up look to be remote, unless significant investment is made in January. The team have scored a pitiful six goals, with forward Nolan Roux bagging four of those himself. It looks like being a big rebuilding job in 2018/19 at the very least.

Rennes by contrast are flying after winning seven of their last eight games to take them as high as 6th in the division. This comes after a poor campaign in 2016/17 in which they struggled badly to find the net with any regularity. The addition of Tunisian international Wahbi Khazri on loan from Sunderland looks to have been an inspired signing, with the attacking midfielder already scoring five times so far.

Like Nantes, who are just above them in the table, Rennes were not expected to be as high as this at any point of the season, and it will be interesting to see how long they can continue their current form.

Our advice for this game is to back a Rennes win and for our correct score prediction, we think the match will finish 2-o to the away team.

For those looking to back an anytime goalscorer bet, we think in-form Khazri looks good value to notch. Can you add anything to this Metz v Rennes predictions article?
