Metz v Lille predictions- Both Metz and Lille are in dire straits ahead of their meeting in Ligue 1 this weekend, with the teams in desperate need of points. It is Metz who are looking more hopeless, sitting bottom of the division with just one win and a shocking 10 defeats from their 11 games this season. The team’s only win came in mid-September when they beat Angers by the odd goal, but since then they have suffered five straight defeats in the league and look almost certain to drop into Ligue 2 come May.
This weekend’s game has the feeling of a last chance for Metz, who are now seven points adrift of safety. They have scored just five goals and conceded the most of any sides in the league, 21, meaning they have the worst goal difference. The statistics make for grim reading and with several players out injured across all areas of the squad, there seems to be little hope that Metz can turn things around.
Lille are not much better off and sit 19th, on six points. Like Metz they have only won once, beating Nantes 3-0 on the opening day of the season. Despite bringing in renowned coach Marcelo Bielsa over the summer, whose previous job was at Italian side Lazio , it has not had the desired effect and the side look incapable of dragging themselves out of the bottom three.
Metz v Lille predictions
The next few weeks see tough games for Lille against the likes of St Etienne, Montpellier and Lyon, so not many points are expected to be gained. As it stands it looks as though Lille will finally drop down to the second tier.
With both teams struggling to find the net, we see this being a low-scoring game and advise backing a bet of Under 2.5 Goals in the game.
For our correct score prediction meanwhile, we think the match will finish in a 1-1 draw as both teams’ search for wins goes on.
