Hoffenheim vs Stuttgart predictions

Hoffenheim vs Stuttgart predictions- Hoffenheim are the definition of inconsistency at the moment. Nagelsmann’s men followed up a 4-0 thumping of RB Leipzig with a confusing 2-0 defeat away to Hannover on Sunday evening, albeit in very heavy snow fall. With just two wins in their last nine Bundesliga outings, last season’s fourth-placed finishers have already lost as many games this term as they did over the whole of their 16/17 campaign (4). One thing’s for sure though, Hoffenheim thrived last season when solely focused on the domestic campaign, something that they can do now following their elimination from the Europa League.

Stuttgart have also been troubled by a lack of consistent form this term, having not picked up back-to-back wins all season. The South Germans’ 2-0 defeat at home to the in-form Leverkusen, though disappointing, was not completely unexpected, and they’re now sat just 2 points above the relegation zone. With just one point from eight matches away from home this season, coach Hannes Wolf has some work to do ahead of Wednesday.

Hoffenheim vs Stuttgart predictions

From a betting perspective, even with the hosts’ swings in form, backing them to score over 2 goals looks a safe bet here. Coach Nagelsmann has struggled to get the formula right with recent away matches, but Hoffenheim’s form in front of goal at home has been very consistent – TSG have not failed to score at home all season – which bodes well against a Stuttgart team that have failed to keep a clean sheet on the road this term. Serge Gnabry and Mark Uth led the way up front in Hoffenheim’s last outing at the Rhein-Neckar-Arena (the 4-0 win over RB Leipzig), so we’d expect them to revert to the same formation on Wednesday following a blank over the weekend.

With the “travel sick” Stuttgart yet to make much progress in their away performances, you have to like Hoffenheim for the win here. However, with Hoffenheim’s back line far from their best at the minute, it’s reasonable to see Stuttgart getting on the score sheet too, especially when looking at their head-to-head record in recent years – both teams have scored in five of the last six meetings (28 goals total). Our prediction: a 3-1 TSG Hoffenheim win.
