Angers v Montpellier predictions – A terrible run of form has seen Angers finally fall into the bottom three in Ligue 1 and they will be desperate to claim the points when Montpellier visit this weekend. Saturday’s defeat at Monaco was Angers’ fourth defeat in five matches and they have only won twice in the league all season. It is easy to see where the side’s main problem lies having conceded a total of 26 times in just 16 games, although they have scored 18. Angers are the division’s draw specialists thus far with eight, and the likelihood of them adding to that win column ahead of the winter break looks remote, with tough matches to come against Nantes and an in-form Dijon.
Angers v Montpellier predictions
The one bright spark of what has been a dismal campaign so far for Angers has been the form of young Cameroonian striker Karl Toko Ekambi who now has six goals in 15 games. Apart from him just two other players in the squad have managed to score more than once, so an injury to the forward could spell disaster for Angers’ chances of staying up.
Montpellier meanwhile are in a much more comfortable position in the table, sitting 8th. Their problem of late has been converting draws into wins, with the team managing a point from four of their last five outings. Although they are low scorers, finding the net only 13 times, Montpellier do have the meanest defence of all 20 teams with just nine conceded. If they keep up that statistic then they will have a great chance of still being in the top half come May.
We see Montpellier carrying on their fine form and winning this game so advise backing them on the Draw No Bet market, while for an alternative bet we suggest also backing the away team to win and there to be Under 2.5 Goals in the game.
